About the Role
The Truck Driver (General) is a key operational position responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods and freight between designated locations.
The role requires the operation of heavy vehicles to complete scheduled transport and delivery activities while ensuring compliance with road transport regulations, loading requirements, workplace health and safety standards, and company operational procedures. The position requires strong time management, safe driving capability, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain transport efficiency within a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy vehicles and trucks to safely transport goods and freight between designated locations
- Manoeuvre vehicles into position for loading and unloading activities
- Load and unload goods using appropriate lifting and handling equipment where required
- Ensure goods are appropriately positioned, secured, and protected during transportation to minimise movement, damage, or loss
- Conduct routine pre-start and vehicle safety inspections to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy
- Verify delivery documentation, manifests, consignment records, delivery schedules, and other transport documentation
- Ensure compliance with vehicle load limitations, load restraint requirements, and safe weight distribution requirements
- Follow designated transport routes and maintain delivery schedules to ensure timely collection and delivery of goods
- Observe and comply with workplace health and safety requirements, road transport legislation, fatigue management requirements, and company procedures
- Report vehicle maintenance issues, delivery discrepancies, incidents, delays, or other operational concerns to management
- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appropriate presentation of vehicles and associated equipment
- Coordinate with dispatch personnel, customers, warehouse staff, and other operational personnel to support efficient transport activities
- Maintain accurate records relating to vehicle movements, deliveries, kilometres travelled, working hours, and other required transport documentation
- Assist with general transport and yard-related duties where reasonably required to support daily operations
Requirements
- Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply
- AQF Certificate II or III relevant to transport and logistics operations (ANZSCO Skill Level 4), or at least 1 year of relevant truck driving experience may substitute for formal qualifications
- Valid Australian Heavy Vehicle Driver’s Licence (e.g. HR, HC or MC class, depending on vehicle requirements), or an equivalent overseas licence eligible for conversion or recognition in Australia
- Relevant experience operating heavy vehicles in transport, freight, logistics, or delivery operations
- Good driving history and sound understanding of applicable road transport regulations
- Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload goods
- Understanding of load restraint, vehicle safety, and fatigue management requirements
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and follow transport and delivery schedules efficiently
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced transport and logistics environment
Work Conditions

- Work involves local and regional transport and delivery operations
- Early morning, weekend, shift, and flexible working hours may be required depending on operational schedules
- Work may involve manual handling and loading/unloading activities
- Regular driving and extended periods of vehicle operation may be required
- Compliance with road transport, fatigue management, workplace safety, load restraint, and company operational procedures is required at all times
Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per hour
