About the opportunity:
An opportunity is available for a suitably experienced Building Surveyor who has a keen interest in Fire Safety to join Council's Building Approval and Certification Team. Working collaboratively with the Principal Building Surveyor - Fire Safety, the successful candidate will be responsible for communicating Council's policies and processes to internal and external stakeholders regarding Building Surveying, Building Certification, Planning and Fire Safety matters.
To succeed in this position, you will meet the following criteria:

Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying, Fire Safety, or equivalent.

Accreditation with NSW Fair Trading at a registration level of Building Surveyor – restricted (all classes of buildings) and/or Fire Safety Engineer under the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018.

NSW Drivers Licence.

A minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience.

A sound working knowledge of NSW Planning legislation.

Demonstrated experience in implementation of a fire safety program, including assessment of certificates, statements, schedules and enforcement functions.

Demonstrated experience in assessment of fire safety compliance for both proposed and existing buildings, in accordance with relevant legislation.
