About the role
Working at the Kalwun Wellness Centre, the Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of food to day visitors, and the weekly home meal delivery service. This role is permanent part time, 24 hours per week, with flexibility in days of week and start time. The service predominately operates Monday to Friday, but may include some weekend work.
What you'll be doing
- In conjunction with the other Cook, develop and prepare nutritious meal offerings to suit the individual and collective needs of older Australians
- Oversee kitchen food safety licensing and associated accreditation
- Catering, kitchen audits, cleaning and purchasing
- Ensure all food items are stored properly
- Monitor stock and check quality of ingredient
About You
You’re someone who:
- Builds strong, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Brings experience in preparing a large volume of meals
- Is passionate about making a positive impact and supporting others with heart and purpose
Essential selection criteria
- Experience and capacity to undertake meal preparation duties in a busy kitchen environment and provide supervision to kitchen assistant staff
- Experience in cooking with traditional ingredients / bush tucker would be highly regarded
- Cert III in Commercial Cookery or similar is highly desirable, as well as Qualified Food Safety Supervisor
- Demonstrated skills and ability to communicate effectively and sensitivity with Aged Care clients and colleagues
Requirements
- National police check
- Current drivers' license (minimum P's)
