iCARE Youth and Community Services Pty Ltd is a dedicated NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) registered provider, and a provider of residential placements for the Department of Children and Families in the Northern Territory (NT). Our core mission is to provide essential care and support services to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their well-being, independence, and inclusion in the community. Our service offerings encompass a wide range of NDIS-approved supports, including accommodation, therapy, and community access programs, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual we serve.
Due to increased demand for our services, we have multiple positions available for this role in Tennant Creek and the surrounding areas of Central Australia, NT.
Position Description
Provide general household assistance, emotional support, home-based care and companionship for aged or disabled people.
Duties:
- Accompany aged and disabled persons during daily activities
- Support participants with complex psychosocial, behavioural, intellectual, and physical disabilities in high-intensity and restrictive practice environments.
- Assisting clients with their mobility
- Deliver culturally responsive supports for Aboriginal participants in remote Central Australian communities, including trauma-informed engagement approaches.
- Assist participants with complex manual handling, hoisting, medication administration, mealtime management, and high-personal-care requirements.
- Prepare food for clients and arrange social activities
- Promote the physical and emotional well-being of residents
- Manage challenging behaviours, crisis escalation, and emotional dysregulation using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
- Perform housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming and cleaning
- Shopping, running errands for clients and living-in with the clients
- Ensure person-centred support and support plans are at the forefront of everything you do
- Partner with residents to be involved in the meaningful activities of their lives
- Coordinate with other staff to achieve outcomes and liaise directly with nursing staff regarding any specific health concerns
Eligibility requirements:
To be eligible, the ideal candidate must have/be willing to obtain the following:
A relevant AQF Certificate III in Aged Care/Individual Support or equivalent with relevant post-qualification experience of at least one year (20 hours plus per week)
Current National Police Check
NDIS Worker Screening Check
First Aid Certificate
Availability to work across a 24/7 Roster to meet operational needs
NT Drivers' Licence
