POSITION SUMMARY
This is a critical role within the Finance team, with overarching responsibility for financial control and monitoring across the Group. The role involves managing key operational activities and monthly reporting, ensuring accuracy through regular reconciliations, and establishing robust financial controls and procedures to support effective governance and compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and mentor a small finance team to deliver critical finance functions while maintaining strong financial controls.
- Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
- Oversee cash flow management to ensure the business maintains sufficient liquidity.
- Take ownership of the general ledger’s integrity, including timely completion and accuracy of reconciliations.
- Review monthly management reporting for warehouses and RMBS vehicles.
- Support the preparation and review of broader monthly management reports.
- Assist in managing Income Tax, PAYG, FBT, and GST returns, coordinating closely with external tax agents.
- Ensure timely completion and lodgement of regulatory filings with ASIC and APRA.
- Support the annual financial statements preparation process and liaise with external auditors on financial matters.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for financial control advice and technical expertise, contributing to the development of policies and procedures.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance existing processes by exploring innovative and technological improvements to drive efficiency.
- Participate actively in finance projects aimed at improving financial reporting capabilities.
- Ensure the accuracy, reconciliation, and integrity of accounting entries within MYOB.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a finance role within the financial services sector or a similar environment.
- Strong understanding of financial control, reporting, and accounting principles and best practices.
- Extensive experience with accounting systems and financial processes.
- Proficient in general accounting tasks, including financial statement preparation.
- Expertise in electronic account reconciliations, particularly bank reconciliations.
- Hands-on experience with MYOB accounting software.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or CA qualification with at least 2 years post-qualification experience preferred.
