Function
The Bar Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while preparing and serving beverages, assisting guests, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at Lovedale Brewbar. This role contributes to creating memorable guest experiences by delivering efficient service, demonstrating product knowledge, and upholding the venue's standards of quality and hospitality.

About the role:
- Welcome and engage guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create positive guest experiences.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
- Resolve guest enquiries and complaints promptly, escalating where required.
- Promote venue offerings, special events, products, and promotions.
Beverage Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with venue standards.
- Operate beer taps, coffee machines, and other bar equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure responsible service of alcohol (RSA) requirements are adhered to at all times.
- Monitor customer behaviour and refuse service when legally required.
Point of Sale & Cash Handling
- Process customer transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, EFTPOS and other payment methods in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and reconcile tills as required.
Venue Presentation & Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar, dining areas, and service stations.
- Restock beverages, glassware, garnishes and other supplies as needed.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained according to operational standards.
Compliance & Safety
- Comply with all food safety, workplace health and safety, and liquor licensing requirements.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Report hazards, incidents, and maintenance issues promptly.
- Participate in required training and team meetings.
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with kitchen, bar, and front-of-house team members.
- Support colleagues during busy service periods.
- Contribute positively to a professional and inclusive team culture.
- Have a full knowledge of and practice of all of the hotel’s established workplace health and safety guidelines (WH&S).
- Adhere to all established cashiering policies and procedures.
- Ensure the protection and maintenance of all operating equipment.
- Complete all assigned opening and closing duties.
- Give assistance to other departments or outlets when required.
- Attend all scheduled meetings.
- Perform any other duties as directed by supervisor / manager.
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in a brewery, pub, bar, restaurant, or cellar door environment.
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification.
- Coffee-making/barista experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and presentation.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, public holidays, and peak periods.
- Reliable, punctual and professional attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry stock, kegs, cartons, and supplies within safe manual handling guidelines.
- Ability to work in a busy hospitality environment.
- Compliance with RSA, food safety, and WHS requirements.
- Efficient service during peak trading periods.
- Maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Positive contribution to team culture and venue performance.
