In this role, you'll:
- Design, create, optimise and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models across RDBMS, NoSQL and data lake environments.
- Translate business requirements for BI, Analytics and Data Science into effective data models that support insight generation.
- Assess data sources using big data characteristics (volume, velocity, variety, veracity, value) to determine suitable modelling techniques.
- Document and maintain metadata to ensure data consistency, quality and integrity.
- Collaborate with architects, developers and stakeholders to develop conceptual models, strategies and data flows.
- Create physical schemas from logical models, advising on referential integrity and compliance with technical requirements.
- Define and enforce data modelling standards, methodologies and design principles.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot data models, identifying improvements for performance and data quality.

About you
- Strong knowledge of data modelling, database design, SQL and technical documentation.
- Deep understanding of schema modelling such as 3NF, dimensional and data vault.
- Ability to translate business needs into scalable long-term data models.
- Experience working in big data environments and balancing trade-offs across OLAP, OLTP and NoSQL.
- Experience with AWS S3, data warehousing, geospatial data and linear asset management systems.
- Hands-on experience using ERWIN or similar modelling tools.
- Skilled in reverse engineering physical models from SQL scripts and databases.
- Working knowledge of Python or cloud-first scripting languages for automation and scheduling.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience.
