This position is a key support role for the work performed by the Zero Childhood Cancer (ZERO) Precision Medicine Program. The Technical Assistant will join the ZERO Diagnostics team, working closely alongside existing Scientists, Technical Assistants and Research Assistants, and will take responsibility for patient sample processing, preparation, submission and data tracking for genomic analysis. The role is vital in supporting the reporting of molecular findings for patients within a clinically relevant timeframe and is performed within an accredited laboratory quality management system. It requires excellent teamwork, meticulous attention to detail and close adherence to deadlines so that patient test results can be provided in a timely manner.
To succeed you will have…
- Tertiary qualifications in science, or relevant laboratory processing experience.
- One or more years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a quality management framework and follow documented procedures with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent attention to detail, a high level of organisational skill and adaptable approach to work.
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills, with a consistently professional demeanour.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team environment.
