Be part of the exciting launch of a new 20-bed Low Secure Forensic Mental Health Inpatient Unit at Budyari Gamada, Blacktown Hospital, opening 13 October 2026. This is a unique opportunity to join a contemporary service from the ground up and help shape its culture, model of care and patient experience.
Working within Mental Health Services at Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD), you’ll join a collaborative multidisciplinary workforce committed to delivering innovative, evidence-based and recovery-oriented care.
Be part of a new specialist forensic mental health service within a growing and diverse health district.
Work alongside existing services and the Forensic Mental Health Network, supporting integrated care and continuity of treatment across NSW.
Contribute to a workplace focused on education, research, innovation and contemporary clinical practice.
Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, medical officers, nurses and allied health professionals to optimise medication management and patient outcomes.

What you'll be doing
As a Pharmacist Grade 1 / 2, you’ll provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services with a primary focus on forensic mental health, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and person-centred medication care throughout their treatment journey.
Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication history taking, medication reconciliation, pharmaceutical review, medication order review and discharge support.
Collaborate with prescribers and the multidisciplinary team to develop and optimise individualised medication management plans.
Counsel patients and provide education to patients, families, carers and staff, with a focus on medication safety, high-risk medicines and changes to therapy.
Support safe and accurate dispensing, distribution and medication management, in line with NSW Health policies, legislation and contemporary pharmacy practice standards.
Contribute to quality improvement, medication safety, antimicrobial stewardship, education and new models of care, helping strengthen pharmacy services across forensic and mental health settings.

Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Pharmacy qualifications conferred by Tertiary Education Institutions (e.g. Bachelor of Pharmacy)
Registration: Full and unrestricted Pharmacist Registration with AHPRA
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated advanced clinical drug knowledge and superior understanding of general medicine, with proven competence in applying this expertise to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Proven commitment to professional development, continuing education and pharmacy research, including membership of a professional pharmacy association, such as the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) or the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA).
