The opportunity & how you will make an impact.
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Consultant to join our growing Heritage team in our Brisbane office! This opportunity is suited to someone who is passionate about the progressive conservation and adaptive re-use of Australia's built heritage, and who values work that contributes to strong communities and the protection of shared history.
You will bring expertise in building conservation and statutory heritage planning, underpinned by a strong working knowledge of Queensland and national heritage frameworks. Your understanding of heritage legislation, building fabric, and the principles of conservation philosophy will inform your strategic advice and practical solutions across a diverse portfolio of heritage places-ranging from urban landmarks to regional and remote sites of cultural significance.
As a Built Heritage Consultant, every day is different, you will:
- Provide practical advice on a strategic level on a range of built heritage projects involving heritage conservation and adaptive reuse.
- Prepare historical and physical analysis of historic heritage sites, interpreting archival and contextual data to inform heritage reports and planning advice.
- Work across a wide range of applications and assist in developing proposals, tenders & submissions for potential projects.
- Assist with the preparation of reports including heritage studies, due diligence assessments, management plans and impact assessments.
- Respond quickly and communicate in a clear, concise and transparent manner to internal and external clients.
- Work alongside other professionals on a range of multi-disciplinary projects, working to specification, to deadlines, within budget and with a commercial outcome.
- Promote the firm and its services to create business opportunities.
- Comply with all workplace health safety (WHS) and wellbeing (WHS) policies and procedures, reporting any identified hazards, near misses, injuries and incidents.

We know everyone is different and bring different strengths and passions with them. In addition to yours, we're keen to connect with you if you bring the following experiences and attributes:
- Tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Heritage Conservation, or a closely related discipline.
- 2 - 5 years of professional experience in heritage advisory, planning, or conservation-preferably within a consultancy environment.
- Appreciation of Australian historical architecture, construction methods, and traditional building fabric.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver heritage assessments and reporting across a range of heritage-listed places.
- Has a proficient understanding of and ability to apply statutory heritage legislation, and principles of the Queensland Heritage Act 1992 to resolve and advise on projects.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing CMPs, HISs, and other technical reports to a high professional standard.
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Committed to culturally respectful practice, including the recognition and protection of Aboriginal heritage and working collaboratively with Traditional Owners.
