Our menu features gourmet egg dishes, omelettes, burgers, salads, steak sandwiches, seafood, chicken dishes, baked items and seasonal specials, all prepared using quality ingredients and contemporary cooking techniques.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef at our Kallangur branch to oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, menu development, food preparation, quality assurance and supervision of kitchen staff. The successful applicant will play a key role in maintaining our high culinary standards while contributing to the continued growth and success of the business.
About the Role
As Chef, you will be responsible for planning, organising and directing the preparation and cooking of food while maintaining exceptional standards of quality, presentation and food safety. You will work closely with management to develop seasonal menus, introduce new dishes and ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, develop and update breakfast, brunch, lunch and seasonal menus in consultation with management

Prepare, cook and present a diverse range of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, including gourmet egg dishes, burgers, salads, steak sandwiches, seafood, chicken dishes, baked items and seasonal specials using a variety of commercial cooking techniques

Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation, cooking and presentation to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction

Develop and standardise recipes, portion sizes and presentation methods to maintain consistency across all menu items

Estimate food requirements and calculate food and labour costs to maximise profitability while maintaining quality standards

Monitor kitchen expenditure, control food costs and implement strategies to minimise waste

Manage stock ordering, supplier relationships, deliveries, stock rotation and inventory control to ensure efficient kitchen operations

Inspect the quality and freshness of ingredients and ensure all food products meet established quality standards

Supervise, train and coordinate kitchen staff, demonstrating cooking techniques and ensuring compliance with operational procedures

Allocate duties to kitchen staff and monitor workflow to ensure efficient service during busy breakfast, brunch and lunch periods

Liaise effectively with front-of-house staff regarding menu items, dietary requirements, customer requests, specials and service timing

Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, allergen management procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and hygiene standards

Monitor the cleanliness, maintenance and safe operation of kitchen equipment and arrange repairs or servicing where required

Contribute innovative menu ideas and seasonal specials that enhance the café's reputation and customer experience
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, Diploma of Hospitality Management (Commercial Cookery), or an equivalent recognised qualification

A minimum of three years' post-qualification experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen

Demonstrated experience preparing high-quality breakfast, brunch and lunch cuisine in a busy commercial kitchen

Strong knowledge of menu planning, recipe development, food costing, stock control and kitchen operations

Proven ability to supervise, train and motivate kitchen staff

Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure

Thorough knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements

Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain one

Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a commitment to delivering outstanding food quality and customer satisfaction
