We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Senior Business Services Accountant based in North Sydney.
We are looking for an experienced Australian accountant who enjoys working closely with clients and wants to take greater ownership of accounting, taxation and advisory assignments.
About the Role
This is a hands-on senior accounting opportunity with responsibility across a diverse portfolio of business and individual clients.
You will be responsible for:
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements and income tax returns
- Managing taxation compliance across Companies, Trusts, Partnerships and Individuals
- Preparing and reviewing BAS, FBT and other statutory returns
- Assisting clients with day-to-day accounting and business advisory matters
- Reviewing work completed by junior accountants
- Managing client relationships and responding to accounting and taxation queries
- Identifying issues and providing practical solutions to clients
- Working with accounting systems including Xero and MYOB
- Supporting the development of junior team members
- Taking ownership of assignments and meeting agreed deadlines
About You
We're looking for someone with:
- 3–6 years of Australian accounting experience
- Experience in Business Services, Business Advisory or Tax Accounting
- Strong experience preparing financial statements and tax returns
- Experience working with a portfolio of business clients
- A relevant Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting or equivalent qualification
- CA or CPA qualification, or actively working towards completion
- Strong client communication and relationship-management skills
- The ability to review work and provide guidance to junior accountants
- Strong attention to detail and commercial problem-solving skills
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
Desirable Experience
Experience with any of the following will be highly regarded:
- SMSF accounting
- Xero
- MYOB
- FBT
- Complex business structures
- Client advisory work
