Where you'll be working
Join the Switchboard team at Blacktown Hospital, supporting communication services across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals. You’ll play an important role in keeping staff, patients and visitors connected while supporting hospital operations in both routine and emergency situations.

What you'll be doing
As a Switchboard Operator, you’ll be responsible for maintaining effective communication across the hospitals while responding confidently to routine enquiries, urgent situations and system requirements.
Operate switchboard, paging, two-way radio and alarm systems, including responding to emergency codes.
Deliver professional and customer-focused service when managing high volumes of calls and enquiries.
Complete after-hours administrative functions including patient registration, admissions, transfers and discharges.
Maintain paging databases, operator console information and staff/department details to ensure accurate communication.
Monitor equipment, respond to system failures and follow established procedures to support uninterrupted hospital communications.

Proven experience in a high paced administrative role undertaking complex and multistep tasks, including the ability to prioritise tasks.
Experience in a customer service role demonstrating superior interpersonal & communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, hospital teams and the general public
Proven ability to follow processes with a high attention to detail to ensure that tasks are completed without error in a high-quality timely manner
Ability to multitask and remain calm in high pressure, time sensitive situations
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work flexibly and efficiently in a team with minimal supervision, escalating concerns appropriately to the switchboard supervisor
Willingness to work at both Blacktown & Mt Druitt Hospital Sites as required
