The role:
As our new Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for leading supplier relationship management across Auto & General's Motor insurance lines. The role owns strategic supplier spend and network optimisation, driving world-class contract management and competitive commercial outcomes.
Develop and execute commercial strategies, manage sourcing and tender negotiations, optimise supplier networks, and track spend against budgets to achieve business and financial goals whilst maximising customer experience, operational efficiency, and cost control through data-driven insights, enhanced compliance controls, and ongoing process improvement.
This role can be based at any of our sites across Australia!
Key Accountabilities:

Supplier & Network Management: Oversee supplier relationships and network performance, developing new commercial relationships to right-size our repairer and parts supplier network, ensuring alignment of behaviours, cost control, and customer service outcomes

Contract Management: Manage the full contract lifecycle, including drafting, variations, monitoring deliverables, service levels, and commercial outcomes, with a focus on strategic contracts that enable long-term business sustainability

Commercial Strategy & Value Creation: Identify and realise market and internal opportunities to create competitive advantage, applying sound commercial judgement and advanced commercial techniques to leverage value creation

Technology & Process Improvement: Deliver and refine re-engineering programs that develop a cost-effective repair service platform, fully utilising investments in technologies such as Symbility, Estimage, and Audanet

Compliance & Risk: Ensure adherence to compliance, business risk policies, and government and industry regulatory requirements, while challenging policies to meet evolving commercial and legislative environments

Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the central liaison between the Commercial Team and contract suppliers, maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

Leadership & Capability Building: Provide guidance, training, and strategic planning support to the team on best practice procurement, contract management, negotiations, and supplier management
What experience you’ll bring:

Background in insurance or similar services industries, with strong commercial acumen and an understanding of financial levers

Demonstrated best practice strategic procurement, including centralisation of commercial strategies, cost savings, and the ability to negotiate business outcomes

Track record of driving performance through accountability, implementing operational efficiency and business process improvements, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement

Experience leveraging technology to solve customer and operational challenges, including digital and omni-channel strategies in large enterprise environments

Superior communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and deliver business outcomes

Tertiary qualifications preferred; post-graduate an advantage; knowledge of financial services legislative frameworks desirable but not essential
