About the Role:
As the Commercial Analyst, you will be a pivotal member of the Finance team, providing vital financial and commercial analysis to support pricing, profitability, and operational decision-making. With strong cross-functional collaboration among the broader Finance, Operations, and Contractor Management teams, you will help identify performance trends, assess risks, and highlight opportunities for continuous improvement.
You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining analytical models, preparing regular performance reports, and delivering clear insights and recommendations to business leaders. You will ensure the accuracy of financial models and reporting, conduct variance analysis, and provide actionable analysis on customer, route, and regional profitability.
This role also contributes to key strategic initiatives, including network performance, productivity, and investment decisions. By translating complex data into meaningful business insights, you will play a crucial role in driving informed, data-backed decisions across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver commercial and financial analysis to support pricing, profitability, and operational decision-making.
Prepare and present regular performance reports, including insights on revenue, costs, margins, and key operational metrics.
Develop and maintain analytical models and reporting tools to support business planning, forecasting, and continuous improvement.
Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial and profitability models for commercial reviews and business cases.
Conduct variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, highlighting key drivers, risks, and recommended actions.
Translate complex operational and financial data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for business leaders.
Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams to identify performance trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Provide ongoing analysis of customer, route, and regional profitability to inform pricing, service, and operational strategies.
Identify and quantify opportunities for cost savings, productivity enhancements, and revenue growth, presenting recommendations to leadership.
Support forecasting, budgeting, and scenario modelling processes with timely and reliable analysis.
Contribute analytical support and recommendations for strategic initiatives, operational changes, and investment decisions.
What We’re Looking For:
2–3 years’ experience in Commercial Analysis, FP&A, or similar analytical roles.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
Professional certification (CA, CPA, ACCA) – completed or in progress (preferred, not essential).
Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
Strong data analysis skills using Power BI (SQL and Co-Pilot skills preferred).
High level of analytical and problem-solving ability to support management decision-making.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Commercial/Sales, and Strategy teams.
Hands-on experience with Power BI for analysis and reporting.
Detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled at turning data into actionable insights.
