Waverley Council is seeking two Building Compliance Officers to join our dedicated Compliance team.

The Role
As a Building Compliance Officer, you will investigate and resolve customer requests and complaints relating to building and development compliance matters.
You will work with Stakeholders to achieve practical and fair outcomes while ensuring legislative requirements are met.

Key responsibilities include:

Investigating building compliance enquiries, complaints and customer requests

Conducting site inspections and gathering relevant evidence

Providing advice and education to residents, builders, developers and property owners

Resolving disputes and facilitating positive outcomes through effective communication and negotiation

Undertaking enforcement action when required, in accordance with legislation and Council policies
About you
-
Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or related field.
- High level knowledge of relevant legislation, including Swimming Pools Act 1992, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Protection of Environment Operations Act, 1997, other legislation and associated standards.
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with complaints and compliance related matters. Demonstrated understanding of and experience with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, and other relevant legislation and standards.

Demonstrated experience in the issuing of notices, directions and orders under the relevant legislation.
- A strong commitment to delivering quality customer service.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including written and spoken communication as well as negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Class C Driver's Licence.
- Understanding of and commitment to EEO, work health and safety, risk management, environmental protection and ethical conduct principles
