Location: Predominantly Westmead Hospital however services located across WSLHD sites.

Predominantly based at Westmead Hospital, this role works across WSLHD sites and partners closely with the Redevelopment team and Aboriginal Health Strategy Directorate to deliver meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal people, families and communities.

What you'll be doing
As the Aboriginal Engagement Officer, you will lead and coordinate Aboriginal community engagement activities across redevelopment and major capital works projects, ensuring Aboriginal perspectives, cultural priorities and community aspirations are embedded throughout planning, design and delivery.
Develop, coordinate and evaluate Aboriginal engagement strategies and activities for redevelopment projects
Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders, knowledge holders, organisations and key stakeholders
Facilitate culturally informed consultation and engagement processes that support meaningful participation in decision-making
Prepare communication materials, gather community feedback and provide insights to inform project outcomes
Monitor, evaluate and report on engagement activities while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

Selection Criteria:
- Understanding of Aboriginal community engagement principles, cultural safety and the importance of Aboriginal self-determination in the planning, design and delivery of health infrastructure projects.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in Aboriginal health, community engagement, project coordination or a related field.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with Aboriginal communities, community organisation, project teams and senior management.
- Experience in project coordination, Aboriginal community engagement, monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to effectively use a range of digital systems and technologies.
- Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel across Western Sydney Local Health District as required.
