Zecon Group Pty Ltd is looking for an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to join our growing residential framing team.
This position would suit a qualified carpenter who has strong framing experience and is ready to take more responsibility on site, lead a small crew and continue developing their leadership and supervision skills.
We mainly specialise in residential timber framing, including single and double-storey homes, townhouses and multi-unit developments.
About the role
As Leading Hand, you’ll work alongside and lead a crew of carpenters and apprentices while taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the job.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and organising a small framing crew
- Reading and understanding architectural plans and engineering
- Setting daily targets and keeping the crew productive
- Timber wall, floor and roof framing
- Coordinating steel, trusses and other framing components
- Checking measurements, levels, plumb and overall workmanship
- Identifying material requirements ahead of time
- Training and guiding apprentices
- Communicating progress, issues and requirements with management
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe site
- Taking ownership of quality and helping jobs meet their scheduled completion dates
What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally have:
- Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent
- Strong residential framing experience
- Confidence reading plans and engineering
- Experience leading others or the ability to step into a leadership role
- High standards of workmanship
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Driver’s licence and reliable transport
- White Card
- A positive attitude and willingness to take ownership
Leadership experience is preferred, but we’re also open to a strong qualified framer who hasn’t been given the opportunity to run a crew yet and is ready to step up.
What we provide
Zecon Group can provide apprentices and ongoing work, allowing you to focus on running the crew and delivering quality frames.
We have a strong pipeline of work and are looking for someone who wants a long-term position with genuine room to grow into greater site supervision and responsibility.
We’re not looking for someone who simply wants the title of Leading Hand. We want someone who takes pride in their work, supports the people underneath them and treats each job like they have ownership in its outcome.
Pay: $300.00 – $450.00 per day
Work Location: In person
