The Barcaldine Region is located in central west Queensland approximately 440km west of Rockhampton, covering an area of 53,677 sq km with an estimated population of 2,900 people.
The Regional Council is made up of the former Shires of Aramac, Barcaldine and Jericho including the towns of Alpha, Jericho, Barcaldine, Aramac and Muttaburra.
The region is one of the largest cattle producing regions in Central Western Queensland and also has a productive sheep, wool and macropod harvesting industry with the prospect of mining.
About the role:
In this role you will be based at the Harry Redford Interpretation Centre in Aramac, providing high-end support to both internal and external stakeholders and clients. We are two individuals on a part time basis who are confident, outgoing and can hit the ground running. Within this role, no day will be the same.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Providing a high level of customer service in the Visitor Information Centre and the Library
- Providing a welcoming and supporting environments for all patrons, handling inquiries with professionalism and de-escalating any issues as needed
- Supporting the day-to-day operations of the Visitor Information Centre and the Library
- Ensuring stock levels, including brochures, promotional materials, and retail inventory are monitored and replenished as needed
- Monitoring and evaluate the success of programs and services, making improvements as necessary to meet community needs
Location: This position is based in Aramac, with Regional Work and Travel as required.
Classification Level: Minimum Level 3.4 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – State 2017 and the Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2025.
Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.
Hours of work: Flexible Part-Time arrangement
Leave: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% loading. Fifteen (15) days personal leave (sick leave) per annum (based on standard working hours).

What we are looking for:
- Proven experience in providing clerical and administrative support with sound knowledge of administration practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated strong time management skills, organisation and planning with an ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines.
- Experience working collaboratively and contributing positively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of internal computer systems, software and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must understand and display Workplace Health and Safety with a good understanding of how to maintain a safe working environment.
