About the Role
As a Suicide Recovery Practitioner, you will provide culturally safe, trauma-informed support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing suicidal crisis or recovering from a suicide attempt. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will help individuals and families access the care they need while promoting hope, healing, and recovery across East Arnhem Land.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for two years. The role involves regular travel to remote communities across East Arnhem Land, including travel on small charter aircraft, to provide outreach services and support where it's needed most.
This position will be classified as either HP3 or AO5, depending on your qualifications and experience.
- HP3: $110,161 – $116,235 per annum
AO5: $104,263 – $109,691 per annum

What You'll Do
- Provide culturally safe aftercare, case management and psychosocial support.
- Develop care plans, coordinate referrals and connect people with the services they need.
- Deliver therapeutic groups and community wellbeing activities.
- Work closely with Yolŋu staff, families, Elders and community partners.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated care.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

What You'll Bring
- A commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and improving outcomes for Yolŋu communities.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a health or allied health discipline (HP3) or demonstrated experience in community services, mental health, suicide support or care coordination (AO5).
- Experience in case management, therapeutic support or working with people with complex needs.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
A current C Class Driver Licence, the ability to drive a manual vehicle, and a willingness to travel throughout East Arnhem Land.
