About the role
Bathurst Regional Council is seeking a Finance Officer to join the Financial Services Team for a Maximum Term Contract of 12 months - Flexible and Hybrid working arrangements will be considered for this role.
You’ll play an important role in supporting sound financial decision-making and helping Council deliver sustainable services to our local community.
- Drive effective financial management by overseeing designated cost centres, supporting budget preparation, analysing variances and delivering clear, accurate and timely monthly financial reports that help managers make informed decisions.
- Turn financial data into meaningful insights by maintaining the integrity of Council’s general ledger and ensuring accurate, reliable and timely financial information is available to support Council operations and strategic priorities.
- Contribute to a positive workplace culture by promoting teamwork, collaboration, cooperation and a professional and courteous approach in everything you do.
Essential Criteria
- Previous accounting/costing experience.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Computer experience with emphasis on Excel or similar.
- Proven experience working in a team environment.
- A current class C Drivers Licence.
- A demonstrated understanding of budgeting principals.
- Experience in Local Government.
- Degree in Accounting/Business or equivalent or evidence of satisfactory progression towards attaining appropriate qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Civica local government accounting software, or similar systems.

Salary: $1,403.60 to $1,474.68 per week + 12% superannuation
Position Status: Maximum Term – 12 months – Full-time
Hours of work: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:45 pm - 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week – Flexible and Hybrid working arrangements will be considered for this role.
