About the role
The Manager Governance and Administration is a new role that reports to the Senior Manager Governance and Risk and manages a significant, multi-disciplinary team. In this dynamic and strategic role, you will be mainly responsible for the delivery of Council’s governance, administration and audit functions, ensuring effective statutory compliance, information access, policy development, internal audit management, and delivery of high-quality secretariat and governance services for Council, the Executive, and the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC).
To succeed in this role you will need technical experience and expertise, excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, and advanced leadership skills. You will need to be highly engaged, confident working closely with external and internal stakeholders and the elected Council, and comfortable problem-solving and navigating strategic and operational challenges and landscapes. You will lead and inspire a team charged to deliver high quality corporate and civic governance services. You will also continue to lead and develop Council’s governance frameworks to ensure alignment with community expectations, and Council’s directions and decisions.

Remuneration
An annual Total Remuneration Package (TRP) range of $185,000 - $215,000 per annum in recognition of:
- Additional hours worked required to meet position requirements and performance expectations
- Access to IWC motor vehicle lease back scheme for private use
Some of the Requires Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Law, Local Government, Commerce, Secretariat, or a related field, and extensive experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience in a governance or administrative context, and significant experience managing large teams.
- Significant demonstrated experience in Local Government governance, administration and internal audit program delivery.
- Significant experience in statutory interpretation, compliance management, policy development and implementation within a complex legislative framework.
- Significant demonstrated knowledge of the Local Government Act 1993, Local Government (General) Regulations 2021, Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, Office of Local Government Model Codes/Policies/Best Practice Guidance, and relevant/associated regulations.
- Proven ability to lead the development and implementation of governance and administrative initiatives.
- High-level time management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
