About the Role
The successful candidate will work on a broad range of immigration law matters, including:
- Conducting initial client consultations and advising clients on visa eligibility, strategy, risks, prospects and procedural requirements
- Taking instructions, identifying client needs and recommending suitable immigration pathways
- Assisting with client conversion, including following up enquiries, explaining service options and signing up new clients
- Supporting the firm’s marketing and client engagement activities in a professional and ethical manner
- Managing immigration matters from start to finish, including strategy, evidence preparation, drafting, lodgement, follow-up and outcome management
- Working across partner, family, skilled, employer-sponsored and temporary activity visas
- Handling visa refusals, cancellations and merits review matters
- Working on protection visa and humanitarian matters
- Preparing ministerial intervention requests and complex immigration submissions
- Drafting legal submissions, statements, statutory declarations, forms and supporting evidence briefs
- Liaising with the Department of Home Affairs, ART, courts, counsel and other stakeholders
- Managing client files with accuracy, professionalism, urgency and care
- Maintaining strong client communication throughout the matter lifecycle
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Admission as an Australian legal practitioner
- At least 2 years of immigration law experience
- Strong knowledge of Australian migration legislation, regulations, policy and procedure
- Experience preparing visa applications, review applications and legal submissions
- Excellent written communication and legal drafting skills
- Strong client-care skills and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines
- A practical, ethical and solution-focused approach
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
Experience in protection visas, ART matters, employer-sponsored visas or complex submissions will be highly regarded.
