About the role
This role will promote and encourage responsible pet ownership through education, animal management programs, and events, as well as proactive and reactive patrols. This role is responsible in maintaining accurate records and preparing reports relating to companion animals.
You can also expect to:
- Delivering enforcement activities, on time, and to meet expectations in terms of quality, deliverables, and outcome
- Provide consistency in law enforcement to keep people safe, with the opportunity for the community to maintain their lifestyle and enjoyment ofthe local area
- Identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner to maintain a quality service and a positive customer experience
- Delivering value for all stakeholders in an ethical, social, and environmentally responsible manner
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of statutory and policy changes applicable to team enforcement activities
- Mediate disputes between residents where appropriate and respond to and investigate complaints
- Liaise with veterinarians, shelters, and animal welfare organisations and assess and respond to animal welfare concerns in accordance with legislative responsibilities.
- Prepare briefs of evidence and attend court proceedings when necessary
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or equivalent enforcement qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of the Companian Animals Act 1998 and other legislation relevant to the position
- Current Driver’s Licence Class C
- Ability to work a 7-day roster and work on call after hours as required
- Ability to prepare and conduct community education programs and to engage with the community.
- Prior e xperience handling of dogs and animal management
- Prior e xperience working in an enforcement role or animal management role
