About the role
OG Diesel NQ Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter / Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our growing team in Townsville, QLD.
This full-time position offers flexible work arrangements and the opportunity to work on a wide variety of diesel engines, plant machinery, and light vehicles. You will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical faults, carrying out repairs and scheduled maintenance, and ensuring all vehicles and equipment meet safety and performance standards.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical faults in diesel engines, plant equipment, and light vehicles using appropriate diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, brake inspections, and scheduled servicing.
- Repair and overhaul diesel engines, transmissions, and associated components in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Service and repair light vehicles, including cars, utes, and vans, addressing both engine and general mechanical issues.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics and repairs on vehicle electrical systems.
- Maintain accurate service records and document all work completed.
- Ensure workshop safety standards are maintained and that all tools and equipment are used safely and correctly.
- Work collaboratively with the team to meet deadlines and maintain an efficient workshop.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices, new technologies, and repair techniques.
What we're looking for
- Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter or Light Vehicle Mechanic (or equivalent relevant experience) and a passion for mechanical work.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience working as a Diesel Fitter or Light Vehicle Mechanic in a professional workshop environment.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Sound understanding of vehicle safety standards and workshop safety procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
- Forklift, MR/HR licence desirable
