Where you'll be working
Western Sydney Local Health District is responsible for the provision of health services to the local government areas comprised of Cumberland, The Shire, Blacktown, , and Parramatta LGA’s and tertiary care to some patients external to WSLHD. These services are provided through a number of hospital and community-based facilities located strategically across the District.
Western Sydney Local Health District is committed to achieving continuous quality improvement in client services within a Quality Management framework, with a supporting Strategic Plan aimed at the continuous improvement of all facilities. The District has individual facilities located at Westmead, Cumberland, Auburn, Blacktown and Mount Druitt. In addition, Drug Health has facilities in community health centres at Merrylands, Parramatta, Doonside and Castle Hill.
All hospitals provide a range of both in-patient and outpatient services to clients both from within the boundaries of the District and cross border flows. In addition to this, there are a number of facilitates strategically located across the District that provide primary health care services to the community Organisation specific content
What you'll be doing
WSLHD - JMO - Trainee - Addiction Medicine
This position under the supervision of Addiction Medicine Specialist provides specialist and ongoing care of patients with drug and alcohol problems in accordance with best evidence based practice and organizational policies.
The primary responsibility of the Drug Health trainee is to provide high quality, evidence-based care, to patients with substance use disorders, in both inpatient and ambulatory settings, under the supervision of Drug Health staff specialist medical officers.
The Drug Health trainee will provide day to day clinical management of patients with substance use disorders in accordance with Drug Health and LHD policies and procedures, and relevant NSW Health and national guidelines. Level of independence and autonomy will depend on previous experience and current competence, and will determined by supervising staff specialists.
