RESIDENTIAL HANDYMAN CARPENTER – ON-THE-ROAD ROLE
Pay: $59 per hour
Hours: 40 or more hours per week guaranteed

We are looking for an experienced and extremely reliable Residential Handyman Carpenter to join our on-the-road property maintenance team. This role involves travelling between residential properties and completing a wide range of carpentry, repair, installation and general handyman work. We can guarantee more than 40 hours of paid work per week for the right person. Travel time between scheduled jobs is paid. You must have your own reliable vehicle, professional tools and equipment.
THE ROLE
You will attend residential properties and complete a variety of carpentry and general handyman jobs. Typical work may include door repairs and adjustments, lock and handle replacement, skirting and architrave installation, shelving, cabinetry repairs, timber repairs, fence and gate repairs, furniture assembly, wall mounting, plaster patching, minor painting and general residential maintenance. You must be confident assessing each job, identifying the correct solution and completing the work independently to a professional standard. This is an on-the-road position involving multiple residential job sites throughout the week.
PAY, HOURS AND TRAVEL
The position pays $45 per hour. Travel time between scheduled jobs is paid at the full hourly rate. We can guarantee more than 40 hours of paid work per week for the right person. Consistent, long-term work is available.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
You must have strong previous experience in residential carpentry and handyman work. You must be confident completing a broad range of repairs, installations and maintenance tasks. You must have practical experience working with doors, timber, skirting, architraves, shelving, cabinetry, fences, gates and general household repairs. You must be able to work independently without constant supervision. You must be able to assess problems on site and determine a safe and practical repair method.
TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND VEHICLE
You must have your own reliable car or suitable work vehicle. Your vehicle must be capable of carrying your tools and equipment between jobs. You must have your own professional hand tools and power tools. You must have the equipment required to complete common residential carpentry and handyman work safely and efficiently. Your tools, equipment and vehicle must be maintained in safe and reliable condition.
RELIABILITY AND COMMUNICATION
Reliability is one of the most important requirements for this position. You must arrive on time for every scheduled job. You must respond promptly to calls and text messages. You must communicate immediately if there is any issue affecting a customer, job or schedule. You must be able to follow a daily schedule and travel reliably between multiple residential properties. We need someone who can be trusted to attend confirmed jobs and complete the work properly without being repeatedly chased or reminded.
WORKMANSHIP STANDARDS
You must produce clean, strong and professional-quality work. You must take accurate measurements and ensure that completed work is straight, secure and properly finished. You must protect customers’ floors, walls, furniture and surrounding areas while working. You must leave every property clean and presentable after completing the job. You must treat customers and their properties professionally and respectfully. You must take pride in your workmanship and never take shortcuts that affect safety or quality.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A current driver licence is required. You must have the right to work in Australia. You must be physically capable of completing residential carpentry and handyman work. You must present professionally and communicate clearly with residential customers.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is an experienced residential carpenter or handyman with strong carpentry skills and broad property maintenance experience. You should be practical, efficient and confident solving problems on site. You should be comfortable moving between different types of jobs throughout the day while maintaining a consistently high standard of work. This role is suited to someone who wants reliable long-term work, more than 40 paid hours per week, paid travel time and a strong hourly rate.
