We are open for lunch & dinner service Wednesday – Sunday (closed Mondays & Tuesdays).
Recently promoting from within, Char Investments Pty Ltd, trading as Char Barossa, now has an opportunity for a qualified and experienced Sous Chef to join our passionate team. This is a full-time position, with an annual base salary ranging from $75,000 to $85,000, depending on skills and experience. Our ideal candidate will have a long-term future with us. As Sous Chef you will lead by example and take pride in mentoring and developing junior chefs, supporting colleagues during busy services, encouraging creativity, innovation and continuous improvement throughout the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and cook food according to the menu and individual customer dietary requirements, ensuring requests are met accurately.
· Ensure all dishes are presented consistently to the highest standards.
· Monitor food stock levels and place orders as needed.
· Assist the Head Chef in supervising and training cooks and junior staff to maintain quality and efficiency.
· Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop recipes, plan menus and encourage the creativity of junior chefs.
· Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality.
· Maintain compliance with Hygiene and Occupational Health & Safety regulations within the kitchen.
· Perform other chef duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
· Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery and at least 2 years of relevant experience in a senior kitchen role.
· Proficiency in pans, grills, and larder work.
· Confident cooking styles with a strong emphasis on quality and presentation, showcasing a passion for food.
· Reliable and capable of working calmly and efficiently during busy service periods.
· Communicates openly, constructively and respectfully with the entire team.
· Holds yourself and others to high standards of workplace conduct, ensuring a respectful and accountable environment.
· Australian working rights or relevant VISA working rights.
