Details: The ACT Emergency Services Agency is looking for an experienced and driven Assistant Director Public Information to lead high‑impact communications in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment where your work genuinely makes a difference.
In this senior role, you’ll lead a small, high‑performing team responsible for delivering clear, timely and trusted information to the ACT community. From drafting media releases and ministerial briefs to shaping strategic communications and engagement plans, you’ll turn complex and sensitive issues into messages that inform, reassure and empower the public. You’ll also play a critical role during emergencies, providing accurate advice under pressure—sometimes from within an Incident Management Team.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

Tertiary qualifications in the field of communications and/or a related discipline area is highly desirable.

Experience working in a high pressure, fast-paced environment such as emergency services is desirable.

A minimum of a Driver’s licence Class ‘C’ is desirable.

This position does not require a pre-employment medical.
Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 21 May 2027.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill similar vacancies over the next 12 months.

The successful applicant may be required to work outside of normal hours in support of operations or to deliver events and engagement activities. Additional hours worked will be remunerated in accordance with the relevant enterprise agreement.
