With 60 years of experience across mining and civil earthmoving, MacKellar delivers large-scale mining services across Australia. We’re looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our team at the Carmichael Mine in Central Queensland.
This is a hands-on, site-based HR role where you’ll partner closely with operational leaders, provide practical HR advice and support employee relations, performance and workforce matters.

About the Role
As an HR Advisor, you’ll provide day-to-day HR support across site, working closely with supervisors, managers and employees to help maintain a safe, compliant and high-performing workplace.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Providing practical HR advice across employee relations and people management
- Supporting performance management, investigations, grievances, misconduct and disciplinary matters
- Preparing HR documentation including warnings, investigation outcomes, performance improvement plans and termination correspondence
- Coaching leaders on employment legislation, Enterprise Agreement interpretation and HR best practice
- Supporting fitness for work, return-to-work and absenteeism matters in partnership with the Health team
- Building strong relationships with leaders and employees across site
- Working with Payroll, Travel and Site Administration to resolve employee and roster-related matters
- Supporting HR projects, initiatives and continuous improvement activities
- Escalating complex employee relations matters where appropriate
About You
You’re a confident HR professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and providing practical, solutions-focused advice.
You’ll bring:
- Previous experience in an HR Advisor or HR Generalist role
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Experience across employee relations, investigations, performance management and disciplinary processes
- Working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Awards and/or Enterprise Agreements
- Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- A practical and approachable style with the confidence to work with leaders at all levels
- Experience in mining, construction, civil, manufacturing or another industrial environment will be highly regarded
