About the Role
Australian Food & Fibre is seeking an Almond Orchard Technical Officer to join our team at Kooba Station, located near Griffith, NSW. This full-time role supports the orchard technical and horticultural teams through crop monitoring, data collection and technical field activities aimed at improving orchard performance and productivity. Due to continued growth across almond operations, we are expanding our orchard team to support increasing production and operational requirements.
Working closely with the Horticulture Manager and broader orchard team, you will assist with monitoring tree development, pest and disease activity, crop forecasting and technical trials across almond and walnut production systems.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring crop phenology and orchard development in line with operational protocols.
Conducting pest and disease monitoring and reporting findings to the orchard team.
Collecting soil and leaf samples for testing and analysis.
Assisting with crop counts and yield estimation activities.
Supporting the setup, execution and reporting of technical trials and research activities.
Identifying and reporting tree health, soil, water or growth anomalies.
Assisting with the implementation of new horticultural technologies and practices.
Maintaining accurate records, data entry and reporting.
Supporting a strong safety culture by reporting hazards and complying with WHS requirements.
Skills and Experiences:
About You
You are a detail-oriented and motivated agricultural professional who enjoys working outdoors and contributing to continuous improvement in orchard production systems. You have a strong interest in horticulture, crop monitoring and technical field operations.
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
An understanding of horticultural practices and orchard crop cycles.
Strong observation, reporting and record-keeping skills.
Competency in data entry and basic data analysis.
A commitment to safe work practices and environmental responsibility.
The ability to work collaboratively across operational teams.
Flexibility to work outdoors and support seasonal operational requirements.
Beneficial experience includes:
Experience with tree crops, particularly almonds.
Exposure to crop monitoring tools, irrigation scheduling or technical fieldwork.

Experience supporting trials, forecasting or research activities.
Tertiary qualifications in Agronomy, Horticulture or a related agricultural discipline.
