The Role
As a Cook, you will support the kitchen team in delivering high-quality meals during service, maintain strong food safety and hygiene standards, and contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of your section.
You will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen leadership to ensure consistency, compliance, and quality in all food preparation and service delivery.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- To monitor stock movement and be responsible for ordering on your section.
- To ensure minimum kitchen wastage.
- To ensure knowledge of the product is maintained and communicated to all relevant personnel.
- Be responsible for completing your mis en place
- To learn and record skills and recipes from other members of the department.
- To report any maintenance issues to the Kitchen Manager immediately.
- To comply with all Laundy hotels policies and procedures to ensure that all regulations are observed.
- To liaise with the Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager and have input with new menu/dishes/systems where applicable.
- To ensure all regulations are adhered to such as food hygiene policies
- To be flexible and willing to help the kitchen at busy times if required
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Proven experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment
- At least 12 months relevant work experience
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable work ethic and flexible availability (including nights/weekends/public holidays)
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or higher)
