About the Role
We are seeking a warm, customer-focused Full-Time Bar & TAB All-Rounder to join our iconic venue in South Melbourne.
You’ll be a central face behind the bar—pouring crisp draught beers, greeting our loyal daytime regulars by name, and creating a comfortable, welcoming environment for our local community. We pride ourselves on maintaining a clean, well-run pub where old-school hospitality comes first.
While TAB experience and an interest in racing are a fantastic bonus, your true passion lies in classic bar service, knowing your way around a tap system, and taking great care of the locals who call our venue their home away from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Bar Operations: Pour draught beer, prepare drinks, manage tap systems, maintain stock levels, and keep the bar area spotless, organized, and running smoothly.
- Customer Engagement: Deliver warm, attentive, and efficient service to our local regulars, daytime trade, and new patrons alike.
- TAB & Sports Coverage: Assist patrons with TAB operations, keep sports/racing screens tuned, and handle payouts with accuracy.
- Cash Handling & POS: Accurately process cash and EFTPOS transactions, balance till drawers, and manage daily floats.
- Venue Support: Work alongside floor staff and management to maintain a seamless, high-quality atmosphere across the entire venue.
- Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to Victorian RSA guidelines, TAB compliance standards, and venue health and safety protocols.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 2–3+ years of experience in a pub, hotel, or fast-paced hospitality venue.
- TAB Capability: Prior experience operating a TAB terminal and a general understanding of sports and racing is preferred (though full training can be provided for an enthusiastic candidate with great service skills).
- Certifications: Valid Victorian RSA certificate (and relevant TAB/RSG accreditations, or willingness to obtain them).
- Attitude: Punctual, reliable, proactive, and friendly with a strong work ethic.
- Flexibility: Availability across a varied roster, including daytime shifts, evenings, weekends, and major sporting or racing days.
