Primary objective
To provide a high level of secretarial, administrative and finance support to Northern Command while working in a high-
pressure environment with changing deadlines and priorities.
Context statement
Northern Command is responsible for the provision of policing services, to approximately one half of the Northern Territory.
This includes the Katherine Division, Northern Division and Central Division.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide general administrative duties, such as receiving telephone calls, organising appointments, maintaining accurate
records and general correspondence, minute taking, filing and other duties as required.
2. Liaise with operational police staff regarding general management of police facilities, vehicles and operational functions.
3. Process and code all invoices through the NTG Pay
4. Manage concurrent email inboxes and calendars to coordinate meetings and scheduling for senior executive members.
5. Assist with any administrative duties, as directed by the Commander, Northern Command or Regional Admin Manager.
6. Work with other administrative support staff to ensure compliance with a range of administrative procedures and
practice requirements.
7. Administer Visiting Officer Quarters (VOQ) accommodation including bookings, consumables and cleaning, inventory
management and asset register.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with a wide range of clients with confidence and
professionalism.
2. Well-developed multi-tasking and time management skills including the ability to work to deadlines.
3. Proven ability to work as part of a team and with minimal supervision when required.
4. High level proficiency in the use of a wide range of computer software packages and applications including, word
processing, spreadsheets, databases and mainframe applications.
5. High level data entry skills with attention to detail.
Desirable
1. An understanding of the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Service principle functions.
2. Hold a current NT Driver’s Licence or ability to obtain.
