Design Engineer
Location: Bentley
Work Type: Full Time | Permanent Opportunity
Power the Pilbara’s next generation of energy connections
Bring practical engineering, customer focused design and on the ground problem solving together in a role that directly enables regional WA communities and industry to thrive.
As a Design Engineer within our Pilbara Network & Projects team, you’ll deliver end to end electrical designs that support customer connections and network upgrades across some of Western Australia’s most critical energy infrastructure. Working closely with customers, contractors and internal delivery teams, you’ll turn site based insights into compliant, build ready solutions that keep our network safe, reliable and future ready.
This role is based in Bentley and requires approximately one week of travel to the Pilbara each month to undertake site inspections, engage with customers and support project delivery activities.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver end to end electrical designs and works packages for customer funded connections, capital works and maintenance activities across the Pilbara.
- Undertake site visits to scope work, capture requirements and translate customer needs into practical, compliant design solutions.
- Prepare and review drawings, calculations, cost estimates and documentation to support quoting, approvals, construction and handover.
- Collaborate with works delivery teams, contractors and stakeholders to support efficient project delivery within agreed timelines and budgets.
- Ensure designs meet Horizon Power standards, WA electrical regulations and safety, environmental and compliance requirements.
What Sets You Apart:
You’re a practical, solutions focused engineer who enjoys working autonomously, engaging directly with customers and seeing your designs built in the real world. You will have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering with experience across distribution network design.
- Knowledge of Australian and WA electrical standards, with exposure to overhead and underground design solutions.
- Experience producing constructible designs, works packages and cost estimates for electrical projects.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical stakeholders and customers.
- A proactive, adaptable approach and the confidence to manage your own workload in a regional, site based environment.
Help keep Pilbara communities and industry powered.
If you enjoy hands on electrical design work, working directly on site, and want a lifestyle change where your expertise makes a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
