About the Team
The QCH provides the only Level 6 Paediatric emergency service in Queensland for children and young people from all over Queensland (as well as northern New South Wales and the Pacific Rim) up to their 16th birthday (and up to the age of 18 years for pre-existing chronic or congenital conditions, and mental health conditions). The QCH also provides lower-level Paediatric emergency service to children from the local catchment area. Emergency operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Emergency providing initial assessment and management of all acute presentations to the QCH Emergency Short Term Treatment Area (STTA) where patients who meet the ESSU admission criteria are admitted for between 2 and 24 hours for further observation, treatment or specialist assessment.
About the Role
The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is accountable at an advanced practice level for leading and coordinating the insert Division or Work Unit to achieve best practice standards for clinical practice, patient centred care within a Healthcare team and is responsible for the provision of effective and efficient human, material and financial resource management.
Autonomy
Advanced level of autonomous clinical and professional practice.
Advanced level of decision making in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
Undertakes operational leadership.
Work collectively to apply the principals of clinical governance.
Apply professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
Responsible for enacting strategies that support a work-based culture that promotes and supports education, learning, research and workforce development.
