About the opportunity
The Hobart Operations Manager, First & Last Mile is responsible for leading the safe, efficient and reliable operation of multiple facilities across Southern Tasmania, including Hobart Mail Centre, StarTrack Premium Hobart and surrounding Delivery Centres. The proposed Hobart Parcel Facility is anticipated for completion in September/October 2027. The Hobart Operations Manager will be responsible for the operational planning and local change management activities associated with the new facility build. Once complete, this role will oversee the new facility as well as maintain accountability for surrounding Delivery Centres in Southern Tasmania. Reporting to the Regional Manager VIC/TAS West, you'll be accountable for operational performance across safety, service, cost, people and compliance while leading a large and diverse workforce.
You will work closely with leaders across Processing, Transport, Delivery, Retail and Support Functions to optimise performance, deliver exceptional customer outcomes and support Australia Post's Post30 strategy. Through strong leadership, operational excellence and a focus on continuous improvement, you'll drive performance, lead change and help shape the future of First & Last Mile operations in Tasmania.

- Manage budgets, labour planning, contractor performance and resource allocation to maximise operational effectiveness.
- Build strong relationships with unions, community stakeholders and internal business partners to support positive and sustainable outcomes.

You enjoy building partnerships, influencing stakeholders and driving continuous improvement that delivers lasting results.
You'll also
- Demonstrated leadership experience within logistics, transport, supply chain, manufacturing, retail or other operational environments.
- Strong experience managing industrial relations matters and working effectively within unionised workplaces.
- Proven ability to lead large operational teams through change, transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing operational budgets, interpreting performance metrics and using data to drive business outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety, compliance requirements and operational risk management.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Operations Management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
