The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) - a project commissioning, designing and constructing a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea Qld and a new maintenance facility in Ormeau Qld. It includes manufacturing and delivering 65 EMU Train sets (390 cars) by the end of 2031.
Combined local and international design teams and suppliers will work together to ensure the delivery of manufacturing requirements and associated documentation to ensure that train sets locally manufactured in Australia meet the design, compliance, manufactuability, reliability, maintainability and safety specifications for the trains operational life for a minimum of at least 35 years.
About the Opportunity
ABOUT THE JOB:
We are looking for a Graduate Engineer in Mechanical to support a new site in Harvey Bay region. This person will work closely with the Production Engineering Manager and team to conduct mechanical engineering analysis and provide onsite engineering support during T&C, maintenance and operational activities.
- Develop and implement engineering solutions for rolling stock mechanical systems in accordance with project and operational requirements.
- Conduct mechanical engineering analysis, investigations and problem-solving activities relating to rolling stock performance, reliability and maintainability.
- Review rolling stock specifications, technical standards and engineering documentation to ensure compliance with Australian and international engineering standards.
- Prepare and manage engineering documentation including technical reports, test procedures, design reviews and engineering change documentation.
- Conduct depot and maintenance site surveys, inspections and monitoring activities to support engineering assessments and project delivery.
- Investigate mechanical failures and reliability issues through FRACAS reviews, root cause analysis and technical evaluations.
- Provide on-site engineering support during testing, commissioning, maintenance and operational activities.
- Manage Engineering Change Requests and coordinate implementation of approved engineering modifications.
- Liaise with engineering stakeholders, project teams, suppliers and maintenance personnel regarding technical and project-related matters.
- Contribute to rolling stock design reviews, engineering integration activities and continuous improvement initiatives
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATION
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Desirable
- Familiarity with engineering software tools such as CAD software
- Previous internships in the rail or transportation industry
