Harness Racing stable seeks experienced horse trainer.
Required skills, experience and abilities:
Extensive experience training harness racing horses, (both trotters and pacers), including ability to perform timed trackwork, and extensive knowledge of gear and its function.
Communicating to stable manager and owners on horse performance and maintaining training logbook.
Conditioning experience with proven success at training horses to high level.
Briefing veterinarian on horse injuries. Extensive injury diagnostic knowledge, and ability to give horses IV and IM injections.
Halter training foals.
Breaking horses, including mouthing and training to pull cart
Extensive nutritional expertise, including supplementation and awareness of racing regulations regarding withholds.
Trimming hooves and shoeing horses. Extensive knowledge of shoeing techniques to alleviate gaiting issues.
Bodyworking qualifications
Driving jogger and 4wheeler with horses. Driving 8 horse truck, and a manual C class licence.
Must have current Harness Trainer and Driver licence.
