Primary objective
Provide quality, client focussed travel and logistical support for the Northern Territory Police Force (NTPF) employees and
volunteers. This includes travel bookings and payments in accordance with relevant legislation, enterprise agreements and
government procurement requirements. Act as Manager Travel and coordinate business function as required.
Context statement
The Finance Branch comprises two sections: Budget Management and Accounting and Taxation. It provides client support services
to the NTPF in the areas of budget management, financial management and reporting, tax management and travel.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Liaise with NTPF employees and volunteers regarding travel and accommodation requirements to ensure value for money
is maintained. Tactfully resolve issues / concerns.
2. Review travel movement requisitions and associated allowances and book official travel through the corporate travel
provider. Process invoices using a corporate credit card and acquit through the accounts payable or credit card system.
3. Conduct training to inform a diverse range of stakeholders on travel matters and systems in accordance with relevant
legislation, regulations, entitlements and policies.
4. Ensure correct governance including financial delegations are applied to travel movement requisitions, invoices and credit
card payments, general ledger and GST codes to comply with Australian Taxation Office requirements.
5. Manage outstanding travel acquittals. Follow up with employees; prepare reports, data and information.
6. Advance specific projects as directed such as review and implementation of travel policies. Work collaboratively in a small
team, develop, and maintain effective partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
7. Provide support to accounts payable team.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound experience working in a busy corporate client focussed services environment, related to travel logistical support.
2. Proven ability to prioritise and manage competing workloads under pressure and meet critical deadlines.
3. Sound knowledge of travel regulations, policies, procedures, entitlements, governance requirements, and processes relevant
to the key duties and responsibilities.
4. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable, self-motivated and act in an ethical and professional manner.
5. Proven highly developed interpersonal skills, including an ability to communicate professionally with senior executives,
internal and external clients, stakeholders and service providers.
6. Well-developed skills using contemporary finance, IT and office software and systems.
7. Ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Desirable
1. Experience working in a para-military organisation.
