Public Transport Service Planner
What if you could help shape the public transport networks communities rely on every day?
At WSP, we’re looking for an experienced Public Transport Service Planner to join our Planning and Mobility team in Brisbane. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of public transport, land use, placemaking and community outcomes, helping clients plan services that are practical, accessible, sustainable and future-focused.
You’ll work with government and transport clients to improve how people move through cities and regions. From bus network planning and service optimisation through to integrated transport strategies and stakeholder engagement, you’ll help develop evidence-based solutions that support better access, stronger connections and more liveable places.
The opportunity
In this role, you will:
- Identify practical opportunities to improve frequency, coverage, connectivity and customer outcomes of our public transport networks
- Use data and spatial analysis to identify opportunities and craft compelling service planning recommendations
- Use your customer travel behaviour knowledge to develop strategies that will encourage public transport use
- Support integrated transport and land use planning, including projects that connect public transport with growth areas, centres, corridors and places
- Work closely with transport authorities, local government, clients and community stakeholders to understand needs, test ideas and shape solutions
- Prepare clear reports, presentations and advice that translate complex service planning issues into practical recommendations
- Monitor and evaluate service performance, using insights to refine networks and improve outcomes over time
- Contribute to public consultation and stakeholder workshops, helping clients explain options and respond to community feedback
- Keep connected to emerging thinking in public transport, mobility, accessibility and sustainable transport
Support and guide junior team members, contributing to a collaborative and knowledge-sharing team culture

About you

You will bring:
- Experience in public transport planning, ideally with a focus on bus networks, service planning, integrated transport planning or network strategy
- Experience in major event service planning or an interest in service planning for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret service data, travel patterns, demand, land use context and customer needs
- Experience working with government clients, transport authorities or local government stakeholders
- The ability to turn technical analysis into clear, practical and persuasive advice
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, presentations and stakeholder materials
- Confidence working collaboratively across disciplines, including transport planning, traffic, urban planning, infrastructure and advisory teams
- A genuine interest in public transport, sustainable mobility and better community outcomes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
