The Suburban Land Agency (SLA) is seeking an experienced and strategic environmental leader to join our Land Supply team as Strategic Environmental Manager. This is a rare opportunity to influence how environmental stewardship, biodiversity outcomes and sustainability principles are embedded across the ACT Government’s land development pipeline.
As the ACT Government’s land developer, SLA plays a central role in delivering people-focused neighbourhoods and urban renewal projects that balance social, economic and environmental outcomes. In this senior role, you will provide authoritative environmental advice across feasibility, business case development and project delivery, ensuring compliance with key legislative frameworks and guiding defensible, high-quality decision-making.
You will lead the development of coordinated biodiversity offset and environmental risk strategies aligned to the Territory’s land release program, oversee complex environmental and heritage investigations, and represent SLA in cross-government forums to influence policy implementation. The role requires sound judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments while supporting delivery objectives.
We are looking for a seasoned environmental professional with demonstrated expertise in environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks relevant to land development, strong experience in environmental risk management and biodiversity strategy, and the capability to provide trusted advice at senior levels of government.
If you are motivated by shaping sustainable growth and influencing environmental outcomes at a Territory scale, we encourage you to apply.
