Salary: Clerk grade 9/10, base salary $133,348 - $146,945 (+ superannuation) + leave loading, generous leave provisions,
Flexible/hybrid working option with 2 to 3 days attendance at the primary office location is required

The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is a service provider, regulator and central agency of government.
Subsidence Advisory NSW operates for the community in coal mining areas of New South Wales, Australia, and is responsible for administering the Coal Mine Subsidence Compensation Act. Expert advice is provided to property owners, government departments and authorities, local councils, community organisations and industries within Mine Subsidence Districts, and throughout NSW.
About Subsidence Advisory NSW Technical Team
The Subsidence Advisory NSW technical team provides specialist geotechnical and engineering expertise to support the assessment and management of mine subsidence impacts across New South Wales. Among others, the team undertakes and oversees technical reviews, risk assessments, geotechnical investigations, and the management of remediation works in areas affected by mine subsidence.
About the role
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will apply your technical skills and experience to support subsidence advisory services. You will be involved in a range of projects/tasks including scoping and managing geotechnical site investigations, scoping and managing subsidence remediation works (e.g. grouting works), analysis of different survey (ground survey, groundwater, InSAR, LiDAR, GNSS) data and preparation of survey reports, review and interpretation of geotechnical and survey reports to predict and manage mine subsidence risk on existing and future developments.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate at the required capability level:

A degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, and relevant work experience in geotechnical or mining engineering.

Ability to interpret and analyse data, identify risk and provide sound geotechnical advice.

Experience in conducting geotechnical risk assessments.

Communicate engineering concepts to a range of diverse internal and external key stakeholders.

A criminal record check is required and a full drivers licence is essential.
Desirable experience and capabilities

Experience providing geotechnical advice regarding mine subsidence risk.

Experience providing strategic advice on engineering controls to mitigate subsidence impacts to surface development.

Experience in relevant technologies e.g. InSAR, LiDAR, GIS.
