About our Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Breezway R&D team at our Brisbane manufacturing facility. Reporting to the R&D Manager, this role will play a key part in the development of innovative products from concept through to testing, validation and production, working closely with our in-house Industrial Designer to evaluate design concepts and develop practical engineering solutions.
This is an ideal opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Technician with minimum year of industry experience. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, is hands-on in their approach and wants to see their ideas evolve into finished products.
You will be involved in front-end concept engineering, prototype development, testing, compliance validation and production implementation. You'll help bring new products to life while supporting continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities

Support the development of new products from concept through to commercialisation.

Create, assemble and evaluate prototypes to validate design performance.

Conduct testing, experiments and product evaluations to ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and performance requirements.

Prepare technical documentation, reports, specifications and testing records.

Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to validate component and product designs, including motors, electronics and other assemblies.

Oversee product development activities through design, validation, testing and final implementation.

Support compliance testing of window frames, assemblies and related products.

Identify opportunities for product enhancement, cost reduction and process improvement.

Assist with the development of quality specifications for components and assemblies.

Contribute ideas for continuous improvement initiatives across production and manufacturing processes.

Support the implementation of new production processes and manufacturing improvements.
About You
You will have recently completed or at a minimum be working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related discipline, or a minimum three years of relevant industry experience.

Enjoys taking ownership of projects and seeing them through from concept to completion.

Has a hands-on approach and enjoys working within a manufacturing environment.

Is interested in both front-end engineering design and back-end validation, testing and implementation.

Possesses CAD experience, preferably using SolidWorks.

Has strong technical documentation, reporting and communication skills.

Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and compliance.

Is eager to learn and develop under the guidance of an experienced R&D team.

Has exposure to manufacturing environments involving windows, plastics, electronics, glass products or similar industries (highly regarded but not essential).

Brings creativity and curiosity, with a genuine interest in developing new ideas and engineering solutions.
