Position: Business Services Accountant

Due to continued business growth, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Business Services Accountant to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with a diverse client base, providing accounting, taxation, and business advisory services while contributing to the ongoing success of the firm.
Some of the duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and other financial documentation for presentation to clients, business owners, and regulatory authorities.
- Assist clients in developing and implementing budgetary, accounting, and financial management policies to support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and lodge income tax returns, Business Activity Statements (BAS), and other taxation-related obligations for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships.
- Provide accounting, taxation, and business advisory services, including advice on business structures, financial planning, cash flow management, and operational performance.
- Examine and analyse clients’ income, expenditure, and operating costs, identifying opportunities to improve profitability and financial outcomes.
- Conduct financial reviews, investigations, and compliance assessments, and prepare detailed reports on financial performance and business operations.
- Assist clients with matters relating to business acquisitions, sales, restructures, financing arrangements, and taxation compliance.
- Liaise with financial institutions, lenders, and other external stakeholders regarding funding, finance, and cash management requirements.
- Introduce, implement, and maintain accounting systems and cloud-based accounting software, providing guidance on the selection and effective use of accounting technologies.
- Ensure financial records and reports are accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant accounting standards, taxation legislation, and statutory requirements.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard client assets and support sound financial governance.
- Review cash flow positions, assess financial risks, and provide recommendations to support informed business and investment decisions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering timely, professional, and tailored accounting and advisory services.
Qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Business Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Business Services Accountant, Accountant, or in a similar accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting principles, taxation legislation, and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience preparing financial statements, income tax returns, BAS, and other compliance obligations for a diverse client base.
- Proficiency in accounting software and cloud-based accounting systems, such as Xero, MYOB, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial management skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional client relationships.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a professional team environment.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality client service and maintaining professional and ethical standards.
Skills and Qualifications
