About the Role
Potts Point Hotel is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our busy kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality meals while maintaining food safety, hygiene and operational standards in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, season and cook a range of dishes in accordance with recipes and venue standards.
- Examine food ingredients and finished products to ensure quality and consistency.
- Operate and regulate kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers and other cooking appliances.
- Portion, plate and garnish food to presentation standards.
- Assist with food preparation and mise en place for service periods.
- Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and monitor stock rotation using FIFO principles.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assist with receiving, checking and storing deliveries.
- Prepare meals to accommodate dietary requirements and food allergies.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, preparation areas and storage facilities.
- Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service.
- Assist with stock control and reporting of stock shortages.
- Support the training and supervision of junior kitchen staff where required.
Skills and Experience
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum three years of relevant commercial kitchen experience.
- Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume hospitality environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work a flexible roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
