About the Opportunity
Based in Cairns, the Injury Management Case Manager will be responsible for leading the coordination of injury management and return to work outcomes across the business. As part of the wider Austal HSEQ team, you will be well supported both on site and by our corporate Injury Management function.
This role offers flexible working arrangements, with up to 24 hours per week available (a minimum of 16 hours is acceptable). School hours can be accommodated, providing an opportunity to balance work and personal commitments.
In this role, you will act as the key point of contact for workers, leaders, and external stakeholders, driving early intervention strategies and supporting employees through recovery to achieve safe and sustainable return-to-work outcomes. You will oversee injury management programs including early intervention, workers’ compensation, and non-work-related medical cases.

What’s Involved
- Coordinate return to work and injury management across Austal

Ensure compliant plans and support for work and non-work-related cases

Implement strategies to optimise injury management outcomes and costs

Minimise claim costs and lost time through effective case management

Compile and distribute reports, analyse injury trends, and provide performance insights
- Improve injury management systems aligned with best practice
- Manage timely and accurate workers compensation payments and reimbursements
You’ll Need

Minimum 3 years’ experience in injury management and/or return to work

WorkCover accredited Return to Work Coordinator
- Current drivers licence

Allied Health Qualification (Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy etc.)

First Aid / Advanced Resuscitation
