Aviation Engineering Safety and Quality Specialist
Toll Aviation is an experienced provider of specialised mission-critical helicopter services and training for Government, Defence, and the civil sector. With extensive experience in operations, training and helicopter maintenance, our staff are some of the most highly experienced and well-trained aviation professionals in the country.
We are seeking an experienced Aviation Engineering Safety and Quality Specialist to join our growing Engineering team. This newly created role has been established to support the continued expansion of our Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisations (AMOs), including Helicopter and Fixed Wing operations across Australia. Ideally this role will be based in Brisbane or Bankstown but could be any Toll Aviation Site across Australia.
Reporting to the Engineering Quality and Safety Manager, you will work closely with our Engineering, Safety and Operational stakeholders to support compliance, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain the highest standards of aviation safety and quality across the business. This hands-on role is ideally suited to an aviation professional with a strong maintenance or engineering background who is looking to apply their technical expertise across safety, quality, compliance and operational improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct internal and vendor audits and manage corrective actions
- Investigate safety events and support root cause analysis activities
- Manage Safety Action Group (SAG) activities and monitor safety trends
- Support quality management systems and continuous improvement initiatives
- Conduct risk assessments and compliance reviews
- Manage supplier accreditation and vendor assurance activities
- Deliver and support engineering safety and quality training
- Support regulatory engagement activities and, over time, potentially act as a CASA-approved Form 4 holder
More about you:
- Significant experience within the aviation industry
- Aircraft maintenance experience, ideally as a LAME (Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer) or similar engineering maintenance role
- Strong knowledge of CASA regulations, Part 145 environments and/or Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Experience working within highly regulated aviation operations
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- Willingness to travel nationally as required
Highly Regarded
- Internal or external auditing experience
- Lead Auditor or other auditing qualifications
- Safety investigator training
- Experience conducting investigations and risk assessments
- Experience with Air Maestro, Gannet and Power BI
- Exposure to both rotary-wing and fixed-wing maintenance environments
