Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS)
Permanent Ongoing | Full or Part Time | Footscray
The PYMHWS inpatient unit (IPU) is a purpose-built facility in Footscray. The service follows the principle of least restrictive treatment and minimisation of adverse impacts on the young person arising out of hospitalisation.
The IPU provides specialised inpatient intervention to young people aged 18 to 25 during the acute phase of mental health disorders.

Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria’s newest public mental health service dedicated to the care of young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

About the Role:

What You'll Do:
Deliver safe, person-centred nursing care to young people experiencing acute mental health challenges
Support therapeutic engagement using trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to contribute to care planning, risk assessment, and review
Monitor mental state, administer medication, and respond effectively to clinical deterioration
Maintain accurate, timely documentation and handover to support continuity of care
Promote a safe, supportive environment that encourages participation from young people and families
About You:
Registered with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
Interest in developing skills in youth mental health care
Sound clinical skills including mental state and risk assessments, and collaborative care planning with young people
Knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act (2022) and youth mental health policies
Commitment to professional development and excellence in nursing practice
Understanding of ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities as a registered nurse
Respect for the unique needs and experiences of young people and their families
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
