About the Role
In your role as Operations Coordinator at Invicta Mill, you’ll play a pivotal part in driving the performance of our site operations. As a key member of the on-site team, you’ll lead and monitor cane crushing and sugar recovery activities, ensuring production plans are achieved safely, efficiently, and consistently.
You’ll take ownership of the shift team’s day to day performance, guiding them to meet targets across rate, reliability, and recovery. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where your ability to coordinate workflows, solve problems in real time, and communicate effectively with both your team and a wide range of stakeholders will set you up for success.

Role responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate shift operations across cane crushing, sugar production, and power generation to achieve safe, efficient, and reliable outcomes.
- Foster a strong safety-first culture by identifying risks, promoting continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with safe work practices and procedures.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on plant performance, using operational data to drive improvements in productivity, efficiency, and process optimisation.
- Coordinate daily operational activities, including maintenance planning, shutdown execution, resource allocation, and shift reporting.
- Lead, coach, and support operational teams to achieve performance targets while promoting a collaborative, accountable, and positive workplace culture.
- Work closely with production, maintenance, and technical teams to resolve operational issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure production targets are met while maintaining a strong focus on quality, reliability, and environmental compliance.
Essential Skills
- Experience in a heavy industrial or operational environment, or a relevant engineering/trade qualification
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across teams and stakeholders
- Ability to adapt quickly, work under pressure, and make sound operational decisions
- Proven leadership capability, with experience guiding and influencing diverse teams
- Strong commitment to safety and alignment with company values of Integrity, Excellence, Passion, Innovation, Teamwork, and Safety
Desirable
- Experience in the sugar industry
- Understanding of WHS and environmental legislation, regulations, and Codes of Practice
- Knowledge of the Sugar Industry Act and Sugar Industry Code of Practice
- Experience using SAP and other milling/operational systems (e.g. Databank, Cane Systems)
- A growth mindset with a focus on learning, continuous improvement, and sharing knowledge
